How much does a new opener installed cost?
In DFW: belt-drive LiftMaster or Chamberlain installed runs $500–$900 depending on horsepower and features. Wall-mount jackshaft units (LiftMaster 8500W) are $700–$1,100. Both include remote(s), wall button, safety-eye install, and MyQ setup.
Which opener do you recommend for a DFW home?
For most DFW garages we recommend LiftMaster. The 8500W wall-mount is the quietest option, the 8550W belt-drive with battery backup is smart for storm-prone DFW, and the 8355W belt is our value pick. Chamberlain B4613T is the same manufacturer at a lower price. Genie 7055 works but has a shorter typical lifespan in Texas heat.
Do I need battery backup?
Not required by Texas code, but strongly recommended. DFW storms take power out often enough that a battery-backup opener is one of the highest-quality-of-life upgrades. Adds about $100–$150 to the install.
What's MyQ and do I need it?
MyQ is LiftMaster/Chamberlain's Wi-Fi platform — opens, closes, and status-checks the door from your phone from anywhere. Most 2020+ openers include it. Highly recommended.
